Ah, yes. What you have all, undoubtedly been waiting for. My first blog about my Roman holiday.
Say what you will about airplanes and the pain in the ass security lines but it is still amazing that I was in Fairfield, CT yesterday. Flight actually wasn't that bad; sleep is overrated after all. I did some reading, namely of Eat. Pray. Love. by Elizabeth Gilbert. What a fantastic read, thanks Dena!! There was of course no room and I thought I was getting restless leg syndrome by the end but that was it.
Barbara and I arrived full of excitement, confusion and lastly sheer exhaustion. Three hours and a couple of mild panic attacks later, we had our luggage and were on our way to our new Roman residences.
I couldn't help but wonder on the way into the city from the airport how my surroundings looked much like central NJ.
The apartment is LOVELY. Huge, two bedroom, two bath apartment on a little street right off Via di Trastevere. That's all I've got for now since I need to pass out and fast.
Gelato count: 1 delicious helping of frutti di bosci e melone...mmmm...delizioso
